This information is strictly for the transportation efforts at the FLETC located in Glynco, Georgia. In efforts to better communicate, the below information is being provided to ensure there is a clear understanding of what is required by each and every student arriving to the FLETC. Please know that our goal is to provide transportation that is not only cost effective for the government but beneficial to our Partner Organizations. This is not a new policy or a new set or requirements, it is defined information to help in transporting your incoming students to the FLETC.

Reminder: Call Transportation Office NLT 5-days prior

All students traveling to the Center, including those driving, must call the Transportation Office, commercial (912) 267-2458 as soon as transportation plans are firm and NO LATER THAN FIVE (5) WORKING DAYS PRIOR to class commencement to advise time and place of arrival. This information will confirm the program dates, and will schedule, if needed, appropriate ground transportation between commercial terminals and the Center. STUDENTS WHO DO NOT CALL WILL NOT BE GUARANTEED TRANSPORTATION.

STUDENTS will arrive at the Center NO EARLIER THAN 7:00 a.m. THE DAY PRIOR to commencement of training. Assigned housing will not be available until 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday, however for Saturday and Sunday arriving students housing will be available upon arrival. Facilities and housing will not be available for early arrivals Monday– Friday WITHOUT THE EXPRESSED WRITTEN PERMISSION OF YOUR EMPLOYING ORGANIZATION indicating the nature of the official business requiring early arrival. Students traveling by privately owned vehicle (POV) should arrive before 10:00 p.m. Students who plan to arrive at the Center after 7 p.m. should make arrangements for their evening meal as the cafeteria will be closed.

Ways to Travel to Glynco

The Center is located 6 miles north of Brunswick, GA, between Savannah, GA and Jacksonville, FL. The names FLETC, The Center, and Glynco are interchangeable; however, these are not on a map--locate Brunswick on the southeastern coast of Georgia. U.S. Highway 17, a north/south route from Maine to Florida, and Interstate 95. Exit 38 on I-95 directs you to the facility; highway signs are to be observed closely when approaching the Center.

Students' automobiles will be registered upon arrival at the Center. Therefore, it is required that students have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

All students traveling to the FLETC by commercial air are encouraged to route their travel into the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport (BQK). The Brunswick Golden Isles Airport is conveniently located adjacent to the FLETC (2-3 miles). When making your reservations, please refer to the destination as BRUNSWICK (BQK). The FLETC will provide ground transportation to and from the Center for each flight at the Brunswick Golden Isles Airport, if PRIOR arrangements have been made.

Delta and ExpressJet/The Delta Connection (formerly Atlantic Southeast Airlines) provide round-trip connections to the Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport. Effective February 10, 2002, this service will be via regional jet. The aircraft being utilized is a 50-passenger jet known for safety, comfort and convenience. It can fly over 500 miles per hour at altitudes as high as 41,000 feet. A flight into Brunswick should reduce the time waiting in airports for connecting flights and bus transportation.

The Jacksonville International Airport is approximately 70 miles away from the FLETC. Most major airlines serve this airport. There are several flights per day between Jacksonville and Atlanta as well as a number of flights from other major points of departure.

Bus service by Greyhound Trailways bus company commutes daily on a generally north-south route. The bus station in Brunswick is open 7 days a week, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Amtrak (Jesup, GA)

Rail service by AMTRAK serves the area with a passenger stop at Jesup, Georgia, which is approximately 35 miles away. Center transportation is not automatically dispatched to Jesup. Center transportation will be provided if students call (912) 267-2458 5 DAYS PRIOR to their arrival. There is no commercial transportation to the FLETC from Jesup, Georgia.
