Hurricane Dorian Update As of Sunday, September 1, 2019, at 8:00 p.m.

For Immediate Release

Due to the current track of Hurricane Dorian, the FLETC Glynco and Charleston sites are activating their Hurricane Response Plans.  Training at both sites is being suspended until further notice.  All students at both locations will be evacuated beginning Monday, September 2, 2019.  This evacuation effort will continue until all students have relocated out of the geographic areas threatened by Hurricane Dorian.  All students currently out of the area and away from their Glynco or Charleston training sites should remain in a safe location and not attempt to return until advised to do so by their agency representatives.

The FLETC-Glynco and FLETC-Charleston campuses will be open on Monday, September 2, 2019, and Tuesday, September 3, 2019, only for FLETC and Partner Organization staff deemed essential to executing FLETC’s Hurricane Response Plans.  Administrative excusal for weather related conditions is approved for all other FLETC-Glynco and FLETC-Charleston staff on September 3-6, 2019.  Return to work instructions for employees at both sites will be provided at a later date.

Employees on 100% telework are expected to work unless their telework location is required to evacuate.  Employees who have their necessary equipment should telework if (a) there is a telework agreement in place at the time telework is needed; (b) there is connectivity at the alternative worksite with equipment commensurate with work needs; and (c) the work to be accomplished was previously determined as telework eligible work.

Please ensure your personal information in the Emergency Notification System (ENS) is current. FLETC will use ENS to provide emergency information regarding the storm.

We will continue to monitor and provide updates, as needed, on the internet, social media, the FLETC mobile app, and the FLETC 1-800 number (see list below).  Please check back frequently to ensure you have the latest information.
