The Office of General Counsel is pleased to bring you the Lawyers to Leaders Training Program (LLTP). The next iteration will be held January 29 - February 1, 2019. 

This site will be your single stop for registration and information.

To register, please fill out our registration form. Someone from our office will verify your registration and confirm your seat at the training program. We look forward to seeing you there!

Description

The Lawyers to Leaders Training Program features leadership topics for OGC/OCC leaders, with an emphasis on emotional intelligence, and is open to any OGC/OCC staff member.

 

Tuition

The estimated tuition rate for the upcoming Lawyers to Leaders Training Program is $150.00. Although, we cannot accept credit cards during registration, one of our financial specialists will contact your Component POC US government purchase card holder 45-days after attending training for payment.

  • Who should attend this program?
  • Anyone interested in learning more about how emotional intelligence plays a role in developing leadership skills, with a focus on leadership development in the legal services profession.

  • Who will be in attendance?
  • Each DHS component and the Office of the General Counsel will be provided the opportunity to send staff members to this program.

  • Who are the presenters?
  • For the January 2019 program, John Besselman of the FLETC Office of Chief Counsel will coordinate and provide instruction for this program. He will be joined by Associate General Counsel David Palmer, OGC Principal Deputy General Counsel Joseph Maher, Deputy Associate General Counsel Lesley Stein, OPLA Deputy Chief of Staff and CHCO Training Instructor Sarah Ennis.

  • How often will this program be offered?
  • This program will be offered twice a year. Once in January and once in June annually.

  • What is the dress code?
  • Business casual.
  •  
  • Are there text books?
  • No.
  •  
  • Is there pre-work I have to complete before attending the program?
  • Yes.  You will be provided a link after you register to complete a 95 question assessment that will be used by Sarah Ennis on the first day of the training.

  • Why is the tuition an estimate?
  • The tuition is determined by the overall cost of the training (location, instructors’ travel and lodging, and course materials) divided by the number of participants. No more than 24 participants will be permitted to attend the program. We are striving to keep the cost of this program as low as possible.

  • What are the times for the program?
  • The training time for the LLTP will be strictly timed. The training day will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. (though you are encouraged to be there no later than 8:30 a.m. for registration on the first day). All other training days will begin at 9:00 a.m. promptly. The training day will end at 4:00 p.m.
