During Fiscal Year 2020, nearly 37,149 law enforcement officers and agents graduated from basic and advanced training programs at FLETC. Of that number, 14,124 who graduated from basic training programs, were eligible for FLETC’s Honor Graduate of the Year Award.

During Fiscal Year 2019, nearly 60,192 law enforcement officers and agents graduated from basic and advanced training programs at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC). Of that number, 21,243 who graduated from basic training programs, were eligible for FLETC’s Honor Graduate of the Year Award.

Each year FLETC grants this award to the basic training graduate, from eligible programs, based upon three composites: highest academic average; high levels of proficiency in firearms; and surpassing physical fitness.

FLETC will continue the tradition of adding the Honor Graduate’s names to the display located in the Coverdell Classroom Building.

How to become the next Honor Graduate of the Year:

In Memoriam Aubrey A. "Tex" Gunnels

April 20, 1918 - September 24, 2011

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers Honor Graduate of the Year award momento (a handgun) is made possible through a gift from Aubrey A. “Tex” Gunnels, former Clerk of the United States House of Representatives, Committee on Appropriations, Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee. At Mr. Gunnels’ request, this award is dedicated to the memory of all FLETC graduates who have died in the line of duty. The FLETC is most grateful to the Gunnels Family Trust for continuing Tex’s legacy by providing the funds for the annual award.
