LEVEL III: Continuous Validation Process (CVP)

FLETC conducts validation studies (Level III) of its basic and integrated basic training programs. Graduates and their supervisors are surveyed 6 to 18 months after graduation to determine the relevance of the training program to on-the-job experiences of the law enforcement officers. The annual scope of this work involves thousands of students and supervisors responding to quantitative and qualitative questions. Results are analyzed and processed with the goal of assessing the validity of the training program and identifying areas for improvement. The EAD uses an “on-line survey builder” to automate the continuous validation process (CVP). This survey builder permits custom design of survey forms, collects information electronically and enters the responses into a relational data base. The automated system provides quicker analysis of the data and generation of graphic displays via menu-driven queries. EAD can complete a study from survey design to final report in a matter of months or even weeks. Like the ATS, the CVP is Intranet/Internet capable, allowing for survey data to flow electronically to program managers and customers. The CVP is in place for all programs at the FLETC, providing continuous feedback on the quality of training programs that prepare law enforcement officers to do the job expected of them.
