Women in Law Enforcement Leadership Training Program (WLELTP)Up one level
This program is designed for women in federal law enforcement who desire to further develop their leadership skills. It is a career development tool that provides a unique opportunity to view leadership principles from the female law enforcement professional’s perspective. The courses in this program are tailored to concentrate on issues and challenges common to female leaders in law enforcement specifically: Gender Differences, Work Life Balance, and others. The program will facilitate open, candid discussions and exercises to identify and develop approaches to deal with common issues and challenges.
The Knowledge, Skills and Ability competency areas include leadership skills through understanding and adapting to human behaviors, communication skills, team building, situational decision-making skills, and emotional intelligence. Taking into consideration life and work experience, participants will explore these topics and develop skills by means of an adult learning model that employs lecture, practical exercises, case studies and self-directed learning. During the program, distinguished law enforcement executives will lead a panel discussion on participant-selected law enforcement leadership topics. This program addresses competencies needed to be effective as a leader in the law enforcement community.
Length: 5 class days, 40 training hours
This program can be exported to an agency-specific work site. Using this option provides the agency with a unique opportunity to provide on-site high quality training at a substantial savings to the agency. The agency saves in the budget areas of transportation costs, per diem, and housing costs per student.
To ensure that the specific needs and concerns of law enforcement supervisors and managers are addressed, LIB's management and instructional staff are themselves former law enforcement leaders representative of a variety of law enforcement organizations. Combined, LIB's staff has over 200 years of service to law enforcement. LIB instructors have held positions as former Federal Senior Executive Service (SES), Superintendent of State Police, and Command and Management officials from organizations such as the United States Secret Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, Internal Revenue Service, Diplomatic Security Service, Vermont State Police, Inspector-General community, National Park Service, U.S. Customs, U.S. Marshals Service, Drug Enforcement Administration, and the United States Park Police. Additionally, instructors hold a variety of certifications from nationally and internationally renowned leadership training and development companies such as the Ken Blanchard Companies, Inc., Target Training International, and High Performing Systems, Inc. Our staff is proud to represent all branches of the Armed Forces.
