Intelligence Analyst Training Program (IATP)
Up one levelThe Financial Fraud Institute (FFI) of the Investigative Operations Division (IOD) of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Glynco, Georgia, is home to the Intelligence Analyst Training Program (IATP). FFI is responsible for the training of intelligence analysts, criminal research specialists, and investigative analysts, and others involved in law enforcement intelligence from Partner Organizations. The program is open to state, and local law enforcement intelligence and investigative analysts on a space available basis.
The program is designed as an introductory level training program on law enforcement intelligence analysis. The 76 hour program provides a firm foundation and baseline for criminal/law enforcement intelligence analysts. It is based around the core competencies of an analyst and the analytical standards for law enforcement intelligence analysts. IATP culminates with a practical exercise devoted to critical thinking concepts and the three components of analysis. IATP is designed to provide a thorough understanding of the intelligence cycle.
The student is evaluated on the basic concepts of analysis, presentation skills, and writing abilities. The final practical exercise is devoted towards bringing together all teaching points, combining the fundamentals of analysis with a law enforcement problem area. This graded practical exercise culminates with the submission of both a written report on their analytical product and presentation of a briefing on their analysis.
Type: Advanced
Length: The training program encompasses 9.5 days (76 hours).
