National Investigative Interviewing Training Program (NIITP)

The NIITP is an advanced interviewing program designed for non-1811 investigators, analysts, and investigative support personnel. The program is designed to assist students in mastering the skills necessary to obtain detailed and accurate information during the course of an interview.

Length: 4 class days

Curriculum

Students, by engaging in practical exercises, will learn to successfully adapt to a variety of interview formats and interview challenges. Participants will learn the importance of rapport and flexibility in obtaining interview outcomes. Additionally, effective note taking and telephonic interviews will be covered along with reluctant witnesses and detecting deception.

  • The Art of Influence
  • The Art of Questioning
  • Current Research in Detecting Deception
  • Rapport and Influence Interviewing Laboratory
  • Interviewing Practical Exercise

Instructors

Instructors in the National Investigator Interviewing Training Program (NIITP) are current and former law enforcement officers with many years of experience in criminal investigations with such agencies as United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations, Naval Criminal Investigations Service, Internal Revenue Service, United States Secret Service, and state and local police departments.
