RPI -- Indian Country Law Enforcement Training Symposium (RPI-ICLETS)

This three-day training conference offers multiple workshops that run concurrently, so participants may choose from several topics. These highly requested courses are taught by subject matter experts from law enforcement agencies across the United States.

Tuition and Cost

TUITION-FREE (Attendees are responsible for travel and meal costs).  Up to 4 nights of lodging may be paid for qualified participants who work more than 50 miles from the training site. Lodging information will be included in the confirmation notice.

Prerequisites for Attendance

Funding assistance is available through the Rural Policing Institute (RPI) for qualified law enforcement officers and other emergency responders located in rural areas.  “Rural” is defined as any area outside of a metropolitan statistical area (MSA), as defined by the Office of Management and Budget (www.whitehouse.gov/omb/bulletins/fy2009/09-01.pdf); or any jurisdiction inside of a MSA located in a county, borough, parish or land under the jurisdiction of an Indian Tribe with a population of no more than 50,000.

To determine eligibility for RPI-funded training programs, please follow our step-by-step instructions for using the U.S. Census Bureau’s database.  If you experience difficulties with determining your eligibility, contact RPI staff at FLETC-RuralPolicingInstitute@dhs.gov for assistance.

Registration Information

  • The best way to register is via the on-line registration system. This system allows you to register at your convenience, change your courses, cancel out of a program, and receive electronic feedback on the status of your request.
  • Create an Account — This will allow you to apply for all training programs. It also lets you track your training once you have applied. After signing up for the account, you will receive a user name and password by email. Then, you will be ready to sign in and request a seat in training programs.
  • Training Account Login — Use this link if you already have a FLETC Training Account.  When registering on-line, qualified attendees should make sure the course they select is an “RPI” training courses in order to ensure they receive free tuition and free lodging where available.
