FLETC Signs Co-op Agreement with Local Schools

Brunswick, GA Apr 27, 2010

The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) entered into agreements this afternoon with the College of Coastal Georgia, Altamaha Technical College and Golden Isles Career Academy to launch Cooperative (Co-op) Education Programs with each of the schools.

FLETC Director Connie Patrick met with Dr. Valerie A. Hepburn, President, College of Coastal Georgia; Ms. Lorette Hoover, President, Altamaha Technical College and Mr. Edward A. Lundell, CEO, Golden Isles Career Academy at the FLETC headquarters for the official signing of the agreements today.

The Co-op Program is designed to give students the opportunity to gain exposure to public service while enhancing their educational goals through year round employment, flexible work schedules and developmental assignments to shape their career choices. Students may be converted to term, career or career-conditional appointments following completion of their academic and work experience requirements.

"The collaborative effort of the team members from these schools and FLETC are to be commended for accomplishing this milestone,” said Patrick. “I am proud to represent FLETC as we enter into this agreement which benefits both the schools, by providing needed jobs and training, and our organization, by providing us with individuals who have the talent and enthusiasm to take us into the future.”
