National Day of Mourning, 01/02/07
December 29, 2006In collaboration with our Partner Organizations, I have determined that all FLETC sites will operate on January 2 at a reduced level. To minimize any inconvenience to our students, prevent delays in the completion of training programs, avoid incurring additional costs to our training partners, and prevent disruptions to training activities, all training scheduled for January 2 will be conducted as planned.
In keeping with the President’s Executive Order closing government agencies other than those conducting essential public business, FLETC personnel will be excused on January 2 except to the extent that their presence is required to conduct training, maintain appropriate support for training activities, and ensure the safety and security of FLETC facilities and those present at them. Employees should seek guidance from their immediate supervisors to determine whether or not their presence on January 2 is essential.
For purposes of pay and leave, please adhere to the following guidance:
1. Tuesday, January 2, 2007 will be recorded in the T&A system (Web-Star) as "Other Administrative Leave" using transaction code 66 and will be treated as a holiday for pay purposes.
2. Employees on compressed work schedules whose regular day off occurs on January 1 or 2, 2007, will take January 3rd as the “in lieu of holiday”.
3. Employees who are currently scheduled for Annual Leave/Sick Leave on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 will not be charged Annual/Sick Leave for that day. If an employee has scheduled use or lose leave for January 2, 2007, and is unable to reschedule that leave for use before the end of the leave year, the leave will be forfeited. When use or lose leave is forfeited under these conditions, there is no authority that permits restoration of the leave.
4. Direct any questions regarding time and attendance issues to FLETC Finance Division, at (912) 267-2288 or (912) 267-2047.
