GDOT Glynn County State Routes -- Update

From the Ga. Dept. of Transportation: contrary to rumors going around the area, the Torras Causeway has not been closed; however, Lanier Bridge is still closed. See message excerpt below.

GDOT Glynn County State Routes - Update (8-22-08, 3:00 pm)

As stated in a press release sent out yesterday, the Sidney Lanier Bridge was closed as a precautionary measure due to Tropical Storm Fay. The Lanier Bridge closure lasted thru the night last night, and the current plan is to carry this closure through tonight also.

Again, all other state routes are open and currently presenting no problems, including the St. Simons Causeway and the Jekyll Causeway. We are not planning to, nor do we expect to, close either of the causeways unless flooding across the entire roadway occurs.
